Finger Rub to Calm

The finger rub is an anchor to calmness.
There are things that set us off and things that calm us down.
A breath and the finger rub of the thumb and forefinger creates a parasympathetic response. This is a calming response that can be linked to a time when we are calm.
​
When in a peaceful place in your mind
create this anchor to calm by breathing peacefully and rubbing your thumb and forefinger together. A good technique to use when in a stressful situation to bring back some calm.

What Specifically is Hypnosis?

Hypnosis is when we are in our subconscious mind.
Since the subconscious is 88% of our entire mind it is where we spend most of our day. Those times when we are not consciously doing something and we are on autopilot we are doing things subconsciously.
​Losing track of time when taking a walk, driving to a destination without thinking about it and experiencing negative self-talk are all forms of being in our subconscious and are variations of hypnosis.
​As a hypnotist I use
‘positive guided imagery’ to assist my client in visualizing what they want in their mind. This creates a ‘subconscious destination’ which aligns one’s conscious desire with one’s subconscious motivation bringing about desired change.

Venting Dreams???

During the night we experience three stages of dreams. The first stage is when we review and file our day away. During the second stage is when we dream and plan for the future. The last stage of dreams is our ‘venting dreams’ and a good way to rid ourselves of worries, concerns, and past issues that no longer affect us and the body no longer needs to hang onto them.
​Those early-morning dreams do not predict the future but rather your mind is just taking out the garbage. Avoid going through your garbage in the morning.

Overload is our defense mechanism and it protects us.

We have a defense mechanism called overload. We go into a fight or flight response when we are pushed too far. Hypnosis allows us to see the overload in stages and understand ways to bring it down.
​There are tools to bring in calm prior to overload.
When in overload
 simply count yourself out as it is a form of hypnosis called environmental hypnosis which is brought on by the negatives in the world around us.

Criticize and change behavior but protect 'Self'

We all make mistakes and we can get down on ourselves but we must be careful. It is OK to criticize the behavior and to make appropriate changes. It is too extreme to criticize ‘self’ and to let the event impact our entire being.

It is imperative to occasionally look in the mirror and make some changes or adjustments to some of our behaviors to bring about better outcomes. In the process, care should be taken to protect 'self'.

Talking to your Subconscious

We are always giving ourselves suggestions and talking to ourselves. When we make suggestions to ourselves and it starts off with a negative then the result will not be positive. If on the other hand the suggestion is worded in a positive fashion, the results will be positive.
An example might be someone who says to themselves, “I don’t want to be sick“.
 
​The subconscious does not leave out the negative and will only take in 'be sick'.
A better result would come from believing and saying to oneself, I am healthy and my body’s natural state is to heal.
You might add, I have armies of anti-bodies with intelligence to protect me from any invaders and I support my body and it’s ability to keep me healthy.

EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique)

One of the most amazing things I’ve learned is how to deal with negative emotions such as fears and worries and anger. EFT, known as ‘tapping’ can affect our bodies electrical/energetic system where our negative emotions reside. Tapping on our acupressure points when experiencing a negative emotion creates an electrical current allowing us to pass the effecting negativities, anger, fears and worries in just minutes. Best way to believe any of this just to try it for yourself.
