Eric's StoryI am a Hypnotist in SE Portland assisting my clients with sports excellence, anxiety relief, accessing coping mechanisms, quitting cigarette smoking, and changing unwanted behaviors to ones that are more desirable. My satisfaction comes from helping people find ease and happiness and using the tools that they have within themselves to make real changes.
I began my hypnosis studies in 1974 while a freshman in college, and learned that the key to creating the person you want to become is to picture yourself that way (when relaxed) and thus, creating a positive self-image with a subconscious destination, thereby allowing yourself to become that person. In 2010 I graduated from the Hypnosis Motivational Institute in Los Angeles as one of the few hypnotists in the Northwest to have completed 500 hours of study and is a Certified Hypnotherapist with The Hypnotherapist Union Local No.472. (ID # 10469903) Some Background: In 1982, at the age of 26, My wife and I began a vending business in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Using the principles of hypnosis and positive imagery, I entered into the business world, developing skills in outside sales, purchasing, accounting and fundraising. During the 80’s, our snack business grew into the largest in the state. We relocated to Portland, Oregon in 1990 and continued in the vending business, known as Sun Snacks. Not long afterwards, Sun Snacks grew to be the largest honor-snack company in the Northwest and the oldest in the country. After selling the business in 2010, Sun Snacks continues to operate in the Portland area under the new ownership. Besides business I enjoys sports and has been an avid basketball player most of my life. I became a foil fencer and reached a pinnacle in my 40’s, earning a State Championship in 1998 and a “C” ranking in that sport. My greatest claim to fame is having lost to Muriel Zagunis (later to earn two Olympic gold medals 2004, 2008) in a semi final bout in 1998. As an social dancer, I enjoy the improvisational aspects of Zydeco and Blues dancing as well as the structure and social aspects of Contra, Waltz and Israeli Folk dancing. In late 2014, my partner and I reopened Lenora’s Ballroom in SE Portland, reviving a beautiful dance floor and returning it back to the community.
