Are you walking around in hypnosis?
Eric Singer - April 2012
About 15-20% of the adult population in the United States is walking around in a state of environmental hypnosis. Environmental hypnosis is brought on by an overload of information from the world around us. When the mind escapes into environmental hypnosis by overload, there is no guide, and the person becomes hyper-suggestible to the many negatives around us.
With hypnotherapy, which is positive guided imagery, you move through a series of positive suggestions, and we create subconscious change. Subconscious change is a change in behavior.
Should you feel that overload is causing you to drift into an environmental hypnosis, it is suggested to count out of the hypnosis. Counting out consists of counting from 0 to 5; and with each number, feeling more awake and aware; and at the number 5; you are feeling wide awake and refreshed. Learning to count out of hypnosis is a good tool for someone who gets overloaded frequently. One way of reducing overload is by replacing anxiety with relaxation.

Hypnosis is the Link to Behavioral Change
Eric Singer - May 2012
The client and the hypnotist first discuss the current behavior and the proposed behavior. We look at the present and then plan for the future.
As we go through our day, we see many behaviors in others that we may admire. While in hypnosis, it is possible to envision these behaviors within our own self image. This allows our subconscious mind to accept that new behavior and incorporate it into our future self.

The Gift of Pause
Eric Singer - May 2012
BEHAVIOR MODIFICATION IN LESS THAN A SECOND …
Learning to pause -- it may be a fraction of a second, a beat of a drum, a simple breath -- and it is the moment you engage your mind and gain control. The simple concept of allowing pause can change your life dramatically. These are some of the advantages gained by giving yourself and others pause.
MAKING BETTER DECISIONS ...
Pause is a method which gives your mind time to compute the situation and return with information necessary to act appropriately.
Telling yourself to wait, and making it loud enough, will give you that urgent split second to reassess before moving ahead.
PAUSE IN THE REAL WORLD:
Is it possible that something as simple as a pause can make the difference between regular and excellence?
In basketball, the player’s physical effort to get within shooting range or to muscle ones way to the hoop must include a moment, a pause, as the player adjusts for the shot. The drive to the hoop holds too much energy in forward momentum, so it is the pause that makes an adjustment for a softer good feeling shot possible.
Is it not the pause in Golf where we hold our breath to see the golfer take his swing? During the pause, the mind makes all the calculations so the golfer need not think about the details. The experience will pay off as the golfer relaxes into the swing.
In fencing, we use all our physical efforts to move within range of our opponent and then gain the right of way by extending our arm to prepare to touch and score. It is all surrendered to a fraction of a second pause so we may reassure ourselves that we will successfully depress our point against our opponent in order to register a score.
In conversation, the pause will make for a more thoughtful response. It gives the speaker the feeling that they are being listened to and opens the door to more productive and agreeable discussions. (Pause will avoid the old saying, What is the opposite of talking? Waiting to talk.)
What would dance, music, song or even lovemaking be without a pause, a breath and a moment of appreciation?
It is the pause in the music that can give it true beauty or the pause in a dance that readies us for a new movement, rhythm, or direction. Sometimes, the pause in a dance allows us to stabilize ourselves as we come back to the music.
It is the Pause that gives us the chance to be in the moment. Take a moment in every situation and every discourse to pause. That simple moment or two can have a significant impact on one’s life. It allows our brain to catch up with whatever it is that we are doing. We become more connected and a better outcome is assured.
I am beholden to the phrase:
"Enlightenment is the result of our thoughts being a certain distance apart.”
Give yourself the gift of Pause.

MAKING BETTER DECISIONS ...
- Becoming a better listener / better conversationalist
- Making more intelligent responses to everything
- Engaging your mind before engaging your mouth
- Engaging your brain before engaging anything physical thus preventing injuries
- Engaging your mind to avoid overload and a primitive fight/flight response

Creating A Self Image Before Bedtime.
Eric Singer - August 2012
During the night, we have three stages of dreams, and it is those magic 30 minutes before bedtime that we are able to influence our 'precognitive' or 'planning for the future' dreams.
It is the perfect time for you to close your eyes and take 60 seconds to create a positive self image of yourself as if you were watching yourself on TV. You may add any characteristics -- either physical or emotional -- that you would like to include in the person you want to be. This process activates your subconscious like a computer. Your subconscious -- your goal machine -- will attempt to bring that image to life.
This can be an extremely powerful tool.
