In many ways your mind is like your car. When you drive somewhere you know the destination. Without a destination, such as a street or address number it is impossible to arrive or even know in which direction to start. Your mind drives you in a similar way and it is always running. If it has a destination then your mind will move you in that direction. Without a destination you might find yourself circling and begin to question your purpose or direction or other aspects of yourself.
Take a minute or two before bedtime: Picture yourself the way you would like to be when you wake up in the morning. What characteristics would you like to have or feel when you wake up and begin to start your day? See a ‘Positive Self Image’ of yourself before bedtime and establish a ‘subconscious destination’. This is a place and direction for your subconscious mind to move you. The subconscious has been called our goal machine so give it a direction and see how you are feeling after 4-5 days.
You are encouraged to create your own or use one or two of the suggestions below. Seeing yourself with the characteristics is good so imagine or picture yourself as having them, not sometime in the future but right now.
Some suggestions: I see myself standing more upright feeling supported by my body I am wearing a calm smile with my shoulders relaxed by my sides I am feeling the confidence in my abilities and the decisions I make I feel more open and excited to what new experiences might come I see giving more of myself to another (or to others) I can see and feel myself giving more to myself
I feel preserved and well taken care of by another (or by others)
I feel preserved and nurtured by myself with love
Creating an image is easier for some then for others. It was in our childhood that we began to create images. Try tapping into your younger self when your imagination could picture just about anything.
